The Site
Painting Lies is a public weblog, owned and maintained by a single, God-like figure from the British Isles (that would be modest old me, of course). I started this website after closing down my various social networking websites, where I used to blog sporadically. I wanted somewhere to start anew, a specially designed site that could house all of my blogs in the future. And so, paintinglies.com was born.
The name is one I dreamt up one day, after completing a short story for my third year university coursework. It was a story about a painter with no name, who was tired of producing beautiful portraits for ugly, empty women. This man was painting lies. I thought it would make a good name for my blog; after all, all writers are just liars with the view to make you believe.
The domain name and webspace are graciously provided by the wonderful Galaxy Web Solutions. The site is powered by WordPress, and the current layout is based on a free theme called Harvest. The background is a pattern by Squidfingers, the header image is bapart of a photograph taken by myself of a bookshop in Hay-on-Wye.
