Today is beautiful. It is also Mother’s Day. I got Susan this book and some pretty flowers:

I’m thrilled that there is some tennis on the TV! I’ll be watching Rafa’s progress closely; hopefully he’ll be playing somewhere near his best again. We shall see! My time this weekend has been given over to addictive video games and editing – hopefully I’ll be able to get another draft finished by tonight, so it can be ordered. It feels good to finally be getting somewhere with FTS.

Now that the sun is graciously putting in a few appearances, we’ve been getting the bunnies ready for life outdoors:

Jaster’s having the time of his life!

I saw Alice in Wonderland this week, and while it didn’t blow me away, I enjoyed it. It felt a bit restrained for Tim Burton, like there were moments where you expected his usual crack-headed madness to kick in, but then it never quite happened. I was delightfully confused by Johnny Depp, who continually slipped into a wonderful Scottish accent, and I thought HBC was good, too. The actress playing Alice seemed a bit dense, I think they could’ve cast that role a bit better…anyway, on Tuesday, Shutter Island beckons! It’s been getting fairly decent reviews, and while I’m not expecting anything nearly as genius as The Departed, I’m still hoping the Scorsese/Leo dream team won’t let me down. On Friday I’m having a night out with Nat, too, because it’s long overdue. I don’t need to spend time with shit people if I don’t want to, and I also don’t have to spend all of my time alone, just because it’s easiest. I just have to wake up and remember to appreciate the good friends in my life, and so it’s all coming together.
