I think today has been useful, a good try at a day off. I went with my mother to Willenhall and dropped two pairs of shoes off at the shoe repairer’s. I’m looking forward to being able to wear them again, as sad as it sounds. We also bumped into a couple of old faces and oh, looks like it’s babies all round for the least likely of people!
We went to Bentley Bridge afterwards, so I could look for shoes, but there was nothing that took my fancy. I don’t mind, though. It was just nice to be savouring the brief snippets of sunshine. After that, we headed to Reedswood where I got a few things from Matalan. I am satisfied with this.
This afternoon, I finished reading Tersias. The ending was dire. I’m sad that the book deviated away from the titular character, because really, the caged blind oracle boy was such a good idea. Still, I’m glad it’s over with. I’m going to grab a book on a whim when I depart for work in the morning, just let it choose itself. When a book wants to be read, it’ll come to you, even if it does take four long years for that to happen!
I have a lot to work on. My discussion with Laba the other day proved productive in the end, and an attempt at Operation: Icarus can be made (although the more I think about it, I am drawn more towards The Icarus Files as a title). I thought I might get started on it tonight, but I got thinking about my short stories collection, which I have been putting together since the summer. I’ve almost finished editing Never Seen the Sky, I can’t face it tonight, but I think I could have that finished off very soon. I got to thinking what else I want to include, and after rooting through past drafts and ideas from my uni years, I finally have a satisfactory contents list drawn up:
- PAINTING
- Only Mine
- A Carrot Seeking Freedom
- Rusty Halo
- Eyebridge
- Let’s See Again Now
- Spicy Horrorshow (tentative title, this is what I’m gearing up to writing, as I type these very words)
- Never Seen the Sky
…if it all goes well, it will be good. I can’t wait to have the proof copy in my hands. <3

Laba
/ 18 November, 2009I like the other title idea!
Also, and I hate to add even more ideas to the fray already, but seeing as we have two stories essentially, why not try and make it a case file told from different perspectives so our characters actually have opposing views on what happened?
